In recent times, augmented (AR) and virtual reality (VR) have started to show their potential through the success of devices such as Oculus Rift, or smartphone applications. These technologies can be, and should be used in business and engineering environment where collaboration is a must. Although the main concept is to develop a architecture where all the equipments can communicate, we need a way to test it, so initially we are going to use a checkers game that will allow us to show off the architecture and features behind our concept.
This project aims to develop a multi-platform system, with interactive collaboration, that unites “old” interaction like in desktop/mobile computer and emerging technologies (AR/VR) and it’s new interactive paradigm. Exploring different virtual and augmented reality devices so we can have a variety of interaction methods, in order to find the best ways to collaborate. A checkers game was developed to demonstrate collaboration between different users work between players/spectators.
The Oculus Rift is a virtual reality head-mounted display. Software, most notably video games, must be custom programmed to use the Rift.
The headset uses a unique neuroscience-driven interface to access, manipulate and share digital information easily and naturally.
A smartphone is a handheld personal computer with a mobile operating system.
